![]() ![]() I don't have any other Finder plugins installed in the past that I remember of, and there are no Finder plugins in use at the moment. However, I haven't seen any reports of such problem anywhere including TotalFinder community forums. Maybe past installs of TotalFinder changed something fundamental, and it affects Finder behaviour even without TotalFinder being used. I'm not using TotalFinder anymore, and SIP remains enabled. It doesn't work on El Capitan without disabling SIP. It only happens once for each tab, then the tabs start reacting normally.Īfter not using that Finder window (or maybe any Finder window) actively for a long period of time, clicking tabs start causing maximise again. It's not a real maximise it only stretches itself vertically, all the way to the top and bottom of the screen.Įven after resizing the window back, each separate tab causes the window to maximise again when clicked. I run an app called unclutter that is dead neat, quickly accessible from the desktop yet its contents are actually located in your user library… I dumped the app(script) in there but you can put it somewhere easily accessible or even leave it on the desktop….When a tab is clicked on a Finder window, the window maximises itself vertically. Redo the above but instead of a service choose to automate the acrion as an application or workflow… I chose application… I repeated the steps and saved to the desktop. You should now be able to fix the issue from withoin FInder by just using that shortcut! Now launch Finder… Click The Finder Menu…Īnd under services scroll down til you find your newly created service… ![]() After restart you may install the latest version of TotalFinder. Overwrite cat with sudo killall -KILL appleeventsdįile > Save (Give your service a name like Finder Fix. Now type reboot and press return to restart your machine. Features: Colored labels: Brings full colors back into El Capitan. My goal is to improve Finder in a few areas where it is lacking but keep the general design. If your Run Shell Script container is like mine it should have the word cat in it. TotalFinder works like the normal Finder but adds tabs, dual panel, colored labels and other features. > click the service wheel in the right panel and hit the choose buttonįrom the list of actions drag Run Shell Script into the newly created right pane… “ AESendMessage Bug in OS X 10.8.2“, blog entry by Michael Tsai.Blog entry on the issue by the same author.Bug report in Open Radar by Brian Webster. This is clearly a bug on Apple’s side and it will be probably fixed in the next update. For example, drag-n-drop stops working in Name Mangler. ![]() ![]() The bug appears in other situations which involve communication between applications. In case you don’t have a password for your OS X user account, you need to set it temporarily in System Preferences > Users & Groups.Īlternatively, you can use Activity Monitor to kill appleeventsd. What helps is logging out/logging in or running the following command in Terminal to kill the Apple Events daemon: sudo killall -KILL appleeventsd Relaunching Finder or the affected application does not help. In the Terminal prompt copy&paste this line and hit return: curl -sL bash 3. In OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) there is a very annoying bug which prevents “ Show in Finder” (or “ Reveal in Finder“, “ Open in Finder“) functionality (usually a menu item) from working in many applications including TextMate, TotalFinder, Transmit, The Unarchiver, Postbox, iPhoto.
